1. PBS’ “Pioneers of Television” turns to prime-time soap operas at 8. Viewers will get to return to the glamorous suffering on “Dallas,” “Dynasty” and “Knots Landing.” More reasons to tune in: ”Dallas” star Larry Hagman, who died last year, is interviewed, and the show promises new details about the “Who Shot J.R.” episode. Also weighing in are Joan Collins, Linda Evans and Diahann Carroll of “Dynasty”; Linda Gray and Patrick Duffy of “Dallas”; and Michele Lee, Joan Van Ark and Donna Mills of “Knots Landing.”
2. This is the end for “Private Practice” at 10 on ABC. Addison will wed Jake (Benjamin Bratt), and Naomi (Audra McDonald) will return to stand by her side, ABC says. I’d opt for McDonald singing several songs, because she is, after all, one of Broadway’s greatest stars. Series creator Shonda Rhimes wrote the series finale.
3. This may be the end of “Parenthood” at 10 on NBC. It is billed as the season finale. The show does well with young adults, but will that be enough to win renewal? We’re told that Sarah (Lauren Graham) will pick between Hank (Ray Romano) and Mark (Jason Ritter). I’m betting on Mark, because not everybody loves Hank.
4. “White Collar” returns with its midseason premiere at 10 on USA. Neal (Matt Bomer) is determined to bring down an Irish mobster. Treat Williams returns as Neal’s dad. Another USA star, Piper Perabo of “Covert Affairs,” guest stars on NBC’s “Go On” at 9.
5. ABC rolls out the two-hour premiere of “The Taste” at 8. If you don’t mind that this cooking show borrows from “The Voice,” just sit back and enjoy Anthony Bourdain’s judging. Of course, you may prefer “Face Off,” which continues at 9 on Syfy.
6. On “Hart of Dixie,” George wrestles with his feelings for Zoe at 8 on The CW. It’s a chance to see Orlando’s Scott Porter emote as George. He’s very good, as fans of “Friday Night Lights” and “The Good Wife” will attest.
